Ten years ago Australia stopped the boats and started an offshore detention policy. This policy has been copied around the world and is our most visible addition to global migration policy. Hundreds of millions of dollars have been stolen by corrupt contractors and it has destroyed the lives of thousands. At the same time, a small group of refugees used a $200 donation to start a refugee-led education revolution which now supports the education of over 1200 students.

They have shown that there is another solution to offshore detention and in 2024/25 Muzafar and Jolyon will be making another feature documentary to share this story with the rest of the world. We will take their voice and message and place it in the premium story-telling space of cinema.
To do this we will be applying to Screen Australia’s Producer Program for support at the end of June and we need your help.
